The Half-Life team is launching a new work! Mercenary hunter Rogue Point preempts the experience and is in full swing
Mercenary Hunter, a four-player co-op first-person shooter developed by Crowbar Collective and published by Team17 Digital, launched on Steam on February 13 for early access and is currently under discount. The game is the first original IP title released by Crowbar Collective after the acclaimed Black Mesa (a high definition remake of Half-Life).
world view background
The game is set in a near-future world of corporate warfare: when the richest CEO on earth suddenly dies, the sprawling business empire he leaves behind is instantly a battleground for all parties to compete for capital. The ruthless conglomerates have entered the scene to try to carve up the ultimate cake. The way they move their troops is as simple as ordering takeout - via a proprietary app called MERX, place an order with one click and an army of private mercenaries is instantly on the front lines.
The only one who dares to fight this capital war head-on is the vigilante armed force composed of civilian elites - Rogue Point (mercenary hunter). Players will take on the role of a member of this elite team, performing high-risk missions in the cracks of corporate warfare, with tactics and firepower against the MERX mercenary army.
core gameplay features
The game is designed for friends to crack black, and supports up to four players to cooperate online. Unlike many cooperative shooters that allow for "separate fights", Mercenary Hunter emphasizes true teamwork - players need to heal and rescue fallen teammates, share weapons and equipment, and execute coordinated attack plans. The survival of the squad depends entirely on the tacit understanding of the members.
Before the start of each mission, the team needs to plan the tactical route in advance in the campaign map. Mission objectives change in real time, and players must adjust their strategies in time according to unexpected situations. Successful completion of the mission will unlock skills, weapons and equipment, and gradually strengthen the team's strength.
The game uses an innovative "parametric design system" to ensure that each entry into the map brings a change in structure and challenge. The four major battlefields - airports, shopping malls, office buildings, offshore oil rigs - each map is not only vast, but each game is reshaped to bring 24 different mission layouts, keeping the strategy and experience always fresh.
MERX enemy units have a variety of AI behavior patterns, and are by no means simple targets. Enemies will actively find cover, outflank, climb obstacles, and react intelligently according to the player's actions, and even throw flash bombs to interfere with the player's line of sight. Complete missions to earn funds for purchasing weapons and equipment. The game promises to be completely microtransaction-free, and all content can be unlocked through in-game efforts:
- 20 + weapons, each with multiple skins
- More than 40 tactical items and accessories for a personalized arsenal
- More than 60 kinds of exterior decoration items, including a variety of skins
- Dead Drop System: Players can choose to buy equipment safely, or they can risk their money to obtain rare items that are only available in this system
